Caitlin Jones is a 27 year old artist born in London, UK and raised and based in New York City. Working with acrylic paint, collage, and beading, her practice is driven by process, material exploration, and emotional intuition. She creates imagined “dreamscapes” and utopian environments as a response to both personal trauma and collective trauma in the world at large.
Through layering, repetition, and experimentation, she explores themes of femininity, vulnerability, and intimacy. Her practice is informed by an interest in color, close looking, and the relationship between physical materials and psychological states.
She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College, where she studied Art, Film, and Visual Studies alongside History & Literature. Her work has been exhibited at Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts (Cambridge, MA) and Westbeth Gallery (New York City).
